Individual Security Cadre

New Security License: Activity-Specific Implications
The company owner is not necessarily the person who must complete role-specific training. Where an activity requires licensed personnel, those personnel must meet the requirements of their respective cadres.

Important Information About Training and Examinations
Training, examination and supporting-document requirements may vary according to:
- the selected service;
- professional security category;
- business activity;
- applicant qualifications;
- professional experience;

- validity of existing certificates;

- changes to regulatory requirements.
A course requirement does not always mean that a separate examination is required. However, an approved training course may include internal assessments, practical evaluations or attendance requirements.
Similarly, technical inspection or product testing is not the same as an examination taken by an applicant.
Renewal Applications
A renewal service may repeat the requirements connected to the underlying professional category.
This does not necessarily mean that every course or examination must automatically be repeated for each renewal. Applicants should confirm:
- whether an existing certificate remains valid;
- whether refresher training is required;
- whether a medical or fitness certificate must be renewed;
- whether an examination must be repeated; and
- whether additional documents are required.
Technical Testing and Applicant Examinations
For technical certification services, the equipment, security system, plan, vehicle or facility may be inspected, tested or assessed.
This is a technical compliance process and should not be confused with a personal examination taken by the applicant or company owner.
Business Owners and Licensed Personnel
A business owner may not personally need to complete security training or an examination merely because the company is applying for a security licence.
However, the business may need to employ or appoint licensed personnel such as:
- Security Managers;
- Security Consultants;
- Security Experts;
- Security Trainers;
- Security Systems Engineers;
- Security Systems Technicians;
- Security Supervisors;
- Security Guards; or
- Money Transport Guards.
Each appointed person must satisfy the licensing, training, examination and supporting-certificate requirements applicable to their role.
