Companies that sell, install, maintain, or operate security systems such as Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), CCTV, and similar security solutions are generally required to be licensed and approved by the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA). Compliance with SIRA regulations is mandatory before providing these services in Dubai.
How can I verify that the company I am hiring to install security systems such as CCTV is licensed by SIRA?
You can verify whether a company is licensed by SIRA by requesting a copy of its valid SIRA license or approval certificate. Licensed companies should also be able to provide their SIRA registration or reference number upon request.
When should I start the license renewal process?
It is recommended to start the renewal process 2 months before the current license expires to avoid any late fees and ensure continuous compliance with regulations.
What is the difference between Security Audit visits and Inspection visits in terms of purpose and consequences?

  • Inspection:A supervisory visit to monitor the facility's ongoing compliance with standards after licensing. If non-compliance is detected, this visit may result in official warnings or fines.
Are audit visit dates notified in advance?
Yes, for scheduled audits, coordination is made with the facility to prepare the required records. However, periodic inspections may occur unannounced to ensure continuous compliance with standards.
Do I need to be present during the inspector's visit?
Yes, the license holder or a designated representative, such as the Security Manager or Technical Officer, must be present to provide access to the control room and facilitate the inspection of the equipment.
How long does it take to obtain a Security System Completion Certificate for buildings?
The certificate is issued once the auditor approves the on-site system and ensures compliance with all technical standards. It is typically available in the system within 2 working days.
